At a press release Jagan said, “Our high command knows and more particularly our beloved leader Sonia Gandhi who respects the public perception and feelings of lakhs of Congress workers.”
He says, “She also knows well what is good for all of us and for our State and people. I request you to await the decision of Sonia Gandhi on the issue of leadership and also urge you to abide by the decision.’’
He further stated, “Your life is extremely important to us. It is but for all of you and your love and affection, your sympathy and admiration, my father would not have been what he was. I would like to personally thank Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, Rahul Gandhi, the State Governor, Chief Ministers of various States, Union Ministers and thousands of leaders of all political parties who came to Hyderabad and Idupulapaya to pay homage to my father and to console us.”
He says, “Besides, my father clearly mentioned that his main task and dream was to enable the Congress to form the government on its own at the Centre in 2014 general elections and make Rahul Gandhi prime minister of the country.’’
Jagan expressed gratitude to the supporters and millions of people who are in state of shock after the unforeseen demise of his father.
He along with his mother Vijayalakshmi, sister Sharmila and other family members said, “I humbly appeal to you to be strong and courageous. I am with you in these trying times, just as you are with me.’’
